Legal & General combines retirement and insurance risk with a large asset-management business. The listed parent, consolidated group, Legal & General Assurance Society and LGIM produce measures that cannot be merged merely because they share the same brand.
What to read first
The 2025 annual report is the comprehensive group source, while the reporting hub separates full accounts from summaries and regulatory publications. Investor material explains the business model, and the London exchange record is limited to the listed parent.
Reporting perimeter and reporting period
Group reporting uses GBP and a calendar year, but assets under management, pension-risk-transfer volumes and insurance earnings each have distinct denominators. A segment label describes management reporting and does not by itself identify the regulated legal entity.

Group, legal-entity and subsidiary boundaries
Legal & General Group Plc is the listed parent of the consolidated financial-services group. Legal & General Assurance Society Limited is a regulated insurance undertaking within that group, while LGIM conducts asset-management activity on a different operating and metric perimeter. Consolidated group measures can include retirement, insurance and investment-management businesses; solo capital evidence and insurer obligations remain specific to the named legal entity.
Interpretation notes and limitations
Asset-management flows are not insurance revenue, and a group capital measure differs from solo insurer evidence. Summary pages are useful navigation but do not replace notes to the accounts. Comparisons with pure insurers can be distorted unless LGIM and retirement activities are separated.
